Hi! I'm Alexandra, most call me Alexa ;)
Ein paar Worte über mich – für internationale Besucher:innen auf Englisch, für deutsche Kund:innen selbstverständlich jederzeit auch persönlich auf Deutsch.

I've spent most of my life fascinated by two things that turn out to be inseparable: what connects people, and the lens each of us carries that makes that connection so complicated. The way perception and bias quietly shape how we see each other, how we misread, how we misunderstand, and what becomes possible when we notice that, even just for a moment.

The way perception and bias quietly shape how we see each other, how we misread, how we misunderstand, and what becomes possible when we notice that, even just for a moment.
My Vision:
I believe illustration can build bridges. Between a child and a difficult feeling. Between a reader and a perspective they've never considered. Between what's hard to say and what's possible to understand. I illustrate because I believe building bridges between people, between feelings, between how things are and how they could be, is the most important thing for a society of humans to flourish together.

Between what's hard to say and what's possible to understand. Human nature has been my longest obsession: perception, communication, and what it takes to genuinely listen to someone you completely disagree with. The gaps between people that feel impossible to cross, and what happens when someone crosses them anyway.
I've learned I am a catalyst. People open up to me quickly. I'm told I create a space where thoughts, feelings, and reactions can exist without judgment, and where things rarely said out loud find room to breathe. People often leave our conversations with new inspiration: for creative projects, or for dreams they haven't thought of in a long time. I think of illustrations the same way: they create enough space for recognition, for a reader to think: yes, that's exactly it. Because understanding, between a child and a feeling, between a reader and an unfamiliar perspective, between communities on opposite sides, is vital for a society in which we all can grow and flourish in a healthy way.
My path here wasn't straight. I worked in early childhood education, I never finished the degree, but those years alongside raising my own daughter shaped how I see children and what they need from a story. I spent time in the wellness world too, which gave me a grounding in health and the human body I still draw on. In 2011 I completed my training as a media designer, and illustration slowly took over everything else.
I've always learned best by moving. Driving through Europe in a camper van, stopping wherever felt interesting, talking to strangers learning their life stories: that curiosity is still very much part of how I work. I'm drawn to the unfamiliar, and I trust that what I find there will find its way into the work.
In practice, I'm collaborative, communicative, and easy to work with. I dive into a brief with genuine interest, ask the questions that matter, and stay close to what the project actually needs. Warm when the subject allows, careful when it doesn't.
I'd love to hear about your project. Let's chat.
