The best children's images do something real: they meet a child exactly where they are. They make a feeling nameable. They make an unfamiliar world feel safe enough to enter. They make a child feel seen.
I come to children's illustration from a background in early childhood education, and from a genuine love of the age: the curiosity, the big feelings, the way children encounter everything as if for the first time. I draw for the child who needs a story that feels true, and for the one who just needs to laugh at something wonderfully silly.

All my work is hand-drawn and digitally colourised by hand, using Adobe Fresco, Procreate, and Affinity. I do not create visual work with AI.
What you can expect from my children's illustrations:
Characters with inner life. My characters feel things you can read on them. Children are very good at sensing whether an emotion is real or performed. I aim for real.
Stories that meet children where they are. Whether it's a picture book about a difficult feeling or a story about an animal doing something completely ridiculous, I think about what a child actually needs from the page.
Warmth without being saccharine. I work with warm, grounded colours and a handmade sensibility: textures, soft lines, a sense that a real person made this. Not clinical, not perfectly polished.
Range within a consistent approach. Picture books, learning materials, children's and teen magazines, educational content: the tone shifts depending on the age and subject. The emotional grounding doesn't.
A process that involves you. I work closely with authors, editors, and art directors to make sure the visual world we build together serves the story and the child reading it.
