Scope of the Project
• Development of custom children’s illustrations for a modular play sofa designed for imaginative role play
• Creation of eight themed textile fronts transforming the sofa into different play environments
• Illustration concepts tailored to story-based, everyday role-play scenarios for young children
• Design and preparation of artwork for large-format textile printing at high resolution
• Optimization of illustrations for production requirements, durability, and visual clarity on fabric
• Adaptation of the visual language for cross-media use, including print, packaging, and digital applications
Project Description
For Dreams4Kids GmbH and their modular play sofa Wumbolino, I created a set of eight custom illustrated textile fronts that transform the sofa into imaginative play worlds. The themes include a fire station, market stall, pet clinic, beauty salon, theater, farm, pirate cave, and car wash, each designed to encourage creative role play and storytelling.
The illustrations were developed specifically for large-format fabric printing, ensuring clarity, strong color presence, and consistency across physical production. Alongside their playful and narrative quality, the designs had to function as robust, child-friendly visuals that work both as part of a physical product and across supporting brand materials.
This project combines children’s illustration, product design, and visual storytelling, supporting open-ended play while providing Dreams4Kids with a cohesive, recognizable visual identity tailored to young audiences.
