Scope of the Project
Concept, design and completion of a typical "Wimmelbild" illustration where's Waldo style with the main location indoor playground and the subject of senses according to a complex brief with an extensive list of situations to display in the center double page of the magazine.
Project Description
The location requested was a typical indoor playground.
I received an extensive brief with all necessary info about format, bleed sizes and file necessities, and a list of situations and things befitting the subject "senses" to implement.
I received an extensive brief with all necessary info about format, bleed sizes and file necessities, and a list of situations and things befitting the subject "senses" to implement.
I drew inspiration from real life experinces at indoor playgrounds, but also memories from a barefoot-park in the Black Forest to implement sensual play with different types of materials to experience and play with.
I decided to keep the shading simple for the sake of more action and details, but to focus on adding more texture and patterns/imagery to clothes and details in terms of things going on with the children.
Special needs such as a Cochlea implant i.e. were implemented as welland the senses smell, taste, physical sense as tickles, pain, cuddles were implemented, movement as dancing, or the fast swirls on the carousel, seeing such as different lighting scenes (neon in the disco area, a dark room and pastel tones in the restin area) were implemented and a colorful Ball tub, and climbing wall.
One area was to be kept a bit empty as in the printed pages, a post it will be integrated to add extra info for the little readers to interact with :)
One of my favourite works ever! Let's do more!
